What is lithangiuria in urinary system?

Lithangiuria, as the name suggests, occur in the urinary system where there is formation of urinary stones. It is also called Urolithiasis. The formation of stones can occur in kidney, ureter, bladder and urethra. There is a saying that the development of lithangiuria begins in summer. Experts explain that during the hot summer months, our body perspire more than we urinate and in such period, our body retains less fluid than usual, which encourage the accumulation of body toxin that would form stones. The Cause of Lithangiuria

Area with tropical heat where people tends to perspire a lot tends to have lithangiuria much easier. On the other hand, areas with harder water, higher level calcium level, tend to give urine a higher level of calcium and subsequently cause the formation of stones easier.

 

4. Symptoms and Diagnosis

The symptom of lithangiuria is generally waist and abdomen pain or hematuria (the presence of blood in urine). The pain will vary from mild pain to distending pain. If serious, extreme pain resembles a knife-cutting pain which can be accompanied by nausea, vomit, hematuria after pain. For urinary tact infections combine with stones formulation can result in frequent micturition, dysuria and other symptoms. 5. Treatment of lithangiuria


There are a variety of treatment for lithangiuria which is mainly determined by the size of the size of the stone and the location of the stone. If the size of the stone is less than 0.5cm in diameter, the treatment is simply by drinking plenty of fluid accompanied with moderate amount of exercise and oral medication, where the stones could be discharged on their own. If the size of the stone is more than 0.5cm in diameter, the treatment option shall be determined by an urologist. Based on the size and position of the stone, the urologist can choose from a variety of options such as shock wave lithotripsy, urinary tract lithotripsy or percutaneous renal lithotripsy. In any case, lithangiuria is a curable condition, so do not be worry. 

 

6. Prevention of Lithangiuria

Similar with other diseases, lithangiuria should be prevented than curing it. 

 

7. Watch Your Diet

The formation of lithangiuria and one’s dietary habit are intertwined. Therefore, a close monitoring of dietary pattern could prevent the occurrence of lithangiuria. Patients with calcium oxalate stone are advice from consuming oxalate rich food such as spinach, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries.

8. Drinking More Water

Create the habit to take in plenty of water in order to increase the amount of urine which encourage the internal cleansing of excess body salt or minerals. Kindly beware of the hygiene and quality standard of your drinking water and prevent consuming water with excess calcium. 



9. Exercise More Frequently

Exercise on a regular basis, eg. brisk walking, jogging, stretching. If your stamina allows, you can do an on-the-spot capriole, which as the ability of preventing the occurrence of lithangiuria.
